Okinawan Traditional Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Association (OTGKA) is part of the international Okinawa Goju-Ryu federation, founded by Master Morio Higaonna in 1979 who is also the Chairman and Chief instructor.
In OTGKA we strongly believe in preserving the traditional way of teaching and practice of Goju-Ryu Karate-Do and we are equally passionate about conducting ourselves in a professional manner, consistent with 21st century practices.
We study not merely Karate but Karate-Do. Do translates to way of life, as it cultivates the virtues of humanity, honesty, concern for others, patience and strength. It also develops the mind and strengthens the body.
Karate-Do is for everyone regardless of age or physical ability, but for the sense of achievement for ones self and the pursuit of fulfilment.
The hardness of the style stems from the effort and concentration required to perfect the art. The training provides the discipline to improve you both mentally and physically.
By accepting the discipline you will strengthen the mind and body. (A healthy body is a healthy mind)
Developing this attitude in your dealings with people pays dividends. Cultivate calmness of the mind as this will enable you to assimilate and understand the spirit of Karate-Do.
